6.34pm: Well, it's been a very gutsy day from Zimbabwe, first with the ball, then with the bat, but they finish day two right up against it. A day that belongs, morally, to Brian Bennett's brilliant 97-ball hundred, ends with him being dismissed twice in a single day, along with his captain, Craig Ervine, who also fought well in the first innings for 42. But the day was turned by Ben Stokes' brilliant first spell in six months, with wickets for all the attack, including Sam Cook on debut and Shoaib Bashir, who claimed more wickets in one day than he managed in three matches for Glamorgan.

That's a wrap, because all eyes have already turned to Hove, where England's women are bowling first against West Indies... and ooh, they have a wicket already. The fun never ends on ESPNcricinfo! From Miller, Alan and Ranjith, good night!

Tongue to Curran, no run, solid in defence, blocking down the line of off stump. That's a wrap for day two!
9.5
1
Tongue to Williams, 1 run, fuller length, flred into the pads, deflected to the leg-side. Williams can peel off his gloves, job done for tonight
9.4
4
Tongue to Williams, FOUR, on the back foot, punched hard through the covers, that's a sweet strike. Tongue is getting a licking in this over!
9.3
2
Tongue to Williams, 2 runs, hops back and across, and finds a thick edge down through deep third... and a near run-out as Williams has to sprawl back into his crease! Duckett's shy would have been tight!
9.2
4
Tongue to Williams, FOUR, too short, on the pads, whipped gleefully through fine leg. Williams takes up the cudgels where Bennett left off
9.1
2
Tongue to Williams, 2 runs, full length from round the wicket, punched on the up to the off side

Trent Bridge's clock is two minutes fast. Thank goodness it's not the Doomsday Clock... though it might yet be for Zimbabwe...

Jai: "For a team who have not toured England for the last 20 years, this is not a bad performance ! Many test playing nations struggle during the first test of the series. Come on guys, give it to the Chevrons. " It's true. They've shown guts, even with the ball this morning

4
Tongue to Williams, FOUR, whipped off the pads again, fair play to Williams, he's staying in line and taking his chances to score when they come.
7.5
0
Tongue to Williams, no run, sharp lift! That thuds the gloves, just back of a length from Tongue. He does this so much. And Williams did well to keep that down
7.4

Tongue to Williams, no run, pushes his line across to the off-side, and blocked into the covers
7.3
4
Tongue to Williams, FOUR, off-line from Tongue, down the leg-side but doesn't get up as much, and whipped off the hip through backward square

Sean Williams averages 43.71 in Test cricket. Some of that would be handy right now

Three slips, short leg

7.2
W
Tongue to Ervine, OUT, back of a length, uncomfortable prod from Ervine who didn't fancy getting in line to that, and that's a leading edge, looping straight to Pope under the lid! Tongue's capacity to extract bounce from a good length comes to the party, and with both of the first-innings battlers gone, this innings is in a bit of crisis

CR Ervine c Pope b Tongue 2 (18m 13b 0x4 0x6) SR: 15.38

Andy: "There's no need for that kind of cheek, John. it's raining tomorrow - golf's on Sunday. " It better not be, Camel are playing Royal Sovereign tomorrow. Proper cricket!

1
Tongue to Curran, 1 run, immediately he finds awkward lift from a good length, over the wicket, and fenced in the air by Curran, but safely for a single into the off-side

About ten minutes left of the day. Tongue is back to inject some extra #wheels
